Roskill reported that the split was more 50%-50% in 2015 and increasing. In opposition to Roskill, some companies report 60% to 70% amorphous and 30% to 40% flake and vein production.

Canadian graphite production is overstated perhaps by a factor of 10. It is reported that the principal Canadian operation at Lac-des-lies, Québec is near the end of reserves and has suspended operations.
